Process

I designed this as a first introduction to design thinking for Grade 6–8 learners, using something they already care about (their own backpack) to make the experience feel relevant and easy to connect with.

I structured it as a gamified challenge, guiding learners through the design thinking stages with simple prompts based on their daily experiences, like comfort, storage, and usability.

Using Genially, I built an interactive flow with clear steps and small challenges to keep them engaged. Learners then brought their ideas to life in Tinkercad, getting a first taste of design engineering.

I kept the focus on exploration over perfection, encouraging students to try ideas, make decisions, and reflect on what works.

The result is a hands-on experience that makes design thinking accessible, relevant, and engaging for first-time learners.
